SchermNed Celebrates 35 Years of Craftsmanship and Innovation

On March 3, 2025, we proudly marked a major milestone—our 35th anniversary! What started in 1990 as a small family business with big ambitions has grown into a leading expert in screen installations and insect netting. Founded by Cock van der Voort, SchermNed has always been built on craftsmanship and innovation. Today, his son Jack leads the company, while his brother Mark focuses on our sister company, Vitrona, which specializes in sunshades and patio covers. Their sister Terry plays a key role in supporting both businesses with administration and automation. From past to present, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction. Here’s to the future!

Innovation in Insect Netting

Innovation is in our DNA. One of our biggest breakthroughs is the insect screen filter developed by Cock—a durable alternative to traditional pleated mesh. This revolutionary filter is used in greenhouses worldwide and has grown significantly in popularity in recent years. Stricter regulations on crop protection products have increased the demand for effective, eco-friendly solutions—and our insect screen filter provides exactly that. We take great pride in the fact that eight out of ten growers who install insect netting choose our unique solution. In our own demo and testing facility in Naaldwijk, we continuously work on new innovations. The market demands insect netting solutions that last longer and are easier to clean. With our developments, we actively respond to these needs, taking continuous steps toward the future of horticulture.

HortiQ Certification and Growth

Beyond innovation, we continue to invest in quality and reliability. SchermNed was the first screen installation company to receive a HortiQ certification, an important quality standard in horticulture. This certification was achieved through a special project in Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with Van der Hoeven Horticultural Projects. Over the years, we have experienced significant growth. In 2024, we acquired Alsemgeest Scherminstallaties and expanded our company with an additional production hall. The next major step is the construction of a new facility at our current location, where we aim to create a modern and inspiring work environment. Our goal? A place where our team works with pride and where customers feel welcome. Although Cock is no longer involved in daily operations, he remains a valued advisor. Every Tuesday morning, he still joins us for a cup of coffee and a good conversation. His experience and innovative spirit continue to inspire our entire team. With 35 years of experience, a strong focus on innovation, and a HortiQ certification as proof of quality, we remain committed to building the future of horticulture.
